It is my sad duty to report the passing today of our brother, Werner Regewitz. Werner was Third Degree Knight having joined the order in 1988 and was a fixture at our fish fries, doing whatever he was physically able to do to help out. Werner will be laid out at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave. Butler. Visitation times are as yet unknown; however we do know that he will be laid to rest on Thursday morning and that the Knights will gather at the Funeral Home on Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m. for a recitation of the Holy Rosary. We expect that his obituary will be printed in the Butler Eagle tomorrow so please refer to that as our information at this time is incomplete.
Those of you who knew Werner can verify that he was a “one of a kind” type of guy. He was severely injured in an auto accident several years ago but he never let that stop him from participating in the cooking and cleaning at the fish fries every Friday. His mannerisms were quirky, to say the least, but he would be the first person to point them out and enjoy a good laugh with all the others at his own expense. He was a good friend and a good knight and he will be missed. Please remember Werner and his family in your prayers this evening and in the next few days too.
Eternal rest grant unto to him, O Lord; and let the eternal light shine upon him. May he rest in peace….. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace………………
